Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek — Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this different from a standard EBC trek?
Three key differences: (1) Premium lodges and a private trek chef instead of standard teahouse food. (2) A private helicopter return from Gorak Shep saves 4 days of descent and gives you an incredible aerial experience. (3) 5-star hotel in Kathmandu with spa, cultural tours, and VIP airport service. The mountain route is the same — you still earn every step to Base Camp.
Is the helicopter return safe?
Helicopter flights in the Khumbu region are routine and operated by experienced mountain aviation companies. We use Simrik Air and Altitude Air, both with excellent safety records. Flights operate in favorable weather only — in rare cases of weather delays, we have contingency plans including an extra night at Gorak Shep.
Can I customize the itinerary?
Absolutely. This is a private trek and we tailor it to your preferences. Want an extra acclimatization day? A side trip to Gokyo Lakes by helicopter? An extension to Bhutan or Chitwan? We design around you.
What is the lodge standard like?
In Namche and Pangboche, our partner lodges (Everest Summit Lodge, Yeti Mountain Home) offer private rooms with en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, heating, quality bedding, and dining rooms with mountain views. Above Dingboche, facilities are simpler but we reserve the best available rooms and supplement with our chef's cooking.
Is this worth the price compared to a standard trek?
A standard EBC trek costs $1,200-1,500. Our luxury version at $3,500 includes: 5-star Kathmandu hotel (3 nights worth $500+), helicopter return ($800+ value), premium lodges, private chef, professional photography, and a private guide. When you add these individually, the premium delivers genuine value — plus the time saved on descent is worth a great deal.
